Clipping the soft instep strap.

Figure 1. First find the most comfortable position for your soft insteps with the EVA pad centered over your insteps. Make a note of the last visible measurement on the exposed end of the strap. In this case the last measurement we can see is 12.
Figure 2. Using a pair of clippers or scissors cut the soft instep strap at the measurement marker you noted earlier.

Figure 3. Re install your modified soft instep!

This modification is an excellent defense against broken strap anchors, which are only repairable with the help of a cobbler. Also, this modification does NOT invalidate your warranty and is in fact highly recommended!
